Welcome to the Outdoor Handbook.

I guess I have to say that I'm one of those lucky people that received the right parents at birth. From a young age they introduced me to the great outdoors, and supported me in discovering it. Even if it meant another trip to the hospital.

Canoeing, kayaking, hiking, camping, sailing. These became normal activities to me. And I loved it. I still do.

I loved it so much that I decided to make it my work. Actually, I see it as "serious play"! The moment it feels like work will be the moment I'm doing it wrong.

Now, with more than 22 years professional experience in the industry, as guide, instructor, by retailers and importers, and lots of customers asking for it, it's finally time to put my knowledge down on paper.

The Outdoor Guide is a collection of articles, sorted in categories, just like chapters in a book. Feels free to read through it section by section, or just dive into what your looking for. New articles and categories are coming all the time, so I hope to see you back regularly. And if you have any suggestions or questions, let me know.

Buyers Guide

Looking for new gear but can't separate the marketing and everyone's opinions from what it's really about.

A lot of the complaints I here abouot gear is because people have bought the wrong gear in the first place, haven't fitted it properly, or are just using it in the wrong way. Saying nothing about not maintaining it in the right way.....

Here are some tips about what it's really about.

Split into Basic gear for general clothing, camping gear and so forth with sport specific gear, for example canoes, in separate sub-sections.
